Although it may not have been the very first Pony Car on the market, when the Mustang debuted in April 1964, it quickly defined the segment and became the face of the segment for the next sixty years. Gone is the original marginally-powered V-8 engine, and in its place is a modern ATK 302 V-8 crate motor. Backing that 5.0 is a three-speed automatic transmission that sends power out to an eight-inch Ford rear end. The modernized theme continues with a set of slotted and cross-drilled rotors at all four corners. Although the fifteen-inch GT-style wheels are classic, the 205/65R-15 red-lined rubber they are wrapped in are from this century.
