Vehicle Description
Reimel Motor Cars is thrilled to present a 1955 Triumph TR2 with an
impressive 43,000 miles. This stunning vehicle features red
exterior paint and an original red leather interior.
The TR2 sports car was designed with the aim of capturing the
American market, which was growing rapidly at the time. It was
powered by a 1,991-cc overhead-valve inline-four engine that was
sourced from the Standard line. The car was wrapped in a distinct
and stylish body that made it stand out from other sports cars of
its time.
The TR2 was only in production from late 1953 to 1955 before it was
replaced by the TR3. During its short production run, only 8,636
TR2s were built, compared to over 75,000 TR3s. However, the TR2
played a significant role in Triumph's success in the critical US
market. It was the car that kickstarted America's love affair with
affordable British sports cars, offering buyers a stylish and
exciting machine.
Today, the TR2 is appreciated by enthusiasts for its historical
importance, as well as its simple, attractive lines and spirited
performance. This TR2 is one of just 1,432 survivors, according to
the Vintage Triumph Register, making it a rare and desirable early
Triumph sports car. It is also a numbers-matching car, meaning that
all of its original parts are intact. Apart from a single respray,
the car remains in its original condition, including the seats and
carpets. It has recently been mechanically sorted and is ready to
be enjoyed, or it could be a fantastic candidate for a restoration
project.
