For Sale: 1965 Austin-Healey Sprite Mark III in Sharon, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

1965 Austin Healey Sprite MK III

This Sprite was reportedly restored about 20 years ago, by the person the current owner feels was the third owner of the car. This Austin Healey was traded into a local specialty Jaguar dealer the day the current owners were there to pick up their XK120 from service. The wife saw the car, fell in love and they drove two cars home that day. That was in 2016, 8 years later and they've managed to amass 740 additional miles, 89,958 miles are on the odometer now.

The third owner had the car restored and most everything was gone through, including an engine rebuild and transmission rebuild. The dealer thought there were roughly 10,000 miles put on by the third owner after the restoration.

The little Healey starts right up and idles smoothly.

The seats are still well padded and keep you in your place pretty well for 60 year old technology.

The car has held up well over the last 20 years, with only a couple small chips in the dark British Racing green paint and a small scratch/rub at the front, left corner, near the bumper.

The engine is the slightly stronger 1098 CC 4 cylinder engine, putting out 59 HP, 10 better than the 948 originally offered in the earlier Sprites. It also has the stronger ribbed 4 speed transmission and in a car that only weighs 1500 lbs, you don't need any more to have a blast driving a slow car fast. The narrow Michelin Weatherwise radials (in 155/80/13 size) make for some exciting cruising while sitting about 4" off the tarmac. Disc brakes in front and drums out back bring her to a halt. There is nothing power in this car. Manual steering, brakes, windows, locks, removable convertible top... all done by hand with no assistance.

Everything about this car is in great condition, the paint as already mentioned; the interior shows hardly any wear; the top is in excellent condition, all snaps and fasteners work well; the metal throughout shows no rust/no rot; the glass is great, clear, no de-laminating; the chrome throughout, while not perfect, is bright and shiny with minima; or no pitting; under the bonnet is well kept, if you wanted to bring her up to 1st place trophy winning status, a day of detailing under there would do that.

Overall, this a great looking, great driving, well maintained little car that will give someone oodles of driving pleasure for the foreseeable future.

Considering the awesome condition, the asking price is $14,000.

Any questions, for several hundred additional photos and video, to schedule time to see her in person or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest!
